An inspiring, heartwarming and true story about the close friendship between an outside Wipper (Viggo Mortensen) and concert pianist (Mahershala Ali); Who are forced to set aside their differences to make the most memorable journey of their lives. When pianist Don Shirley in 1962 is looking for a bodyguard for his tour of the south of America, he comes in contact with Tony Lip. An Italian-American outdoor wipper who wants to earn some extra money. Together they travel through different ' white ' states using a special travel guide (The Green Book) that informs them about places where Afro-Americans are welcome and safe. During their journey they are confronted with their opposing personalities, danger and racism but also with unexpected humanity and a full dose of humor. In order to get home safely, they will have to put their differences on the side and a special friendship arises.
