The hunt for the Star Jewels begins!

After Princess Peach asks Mario for help with a treasure hunt, he immediately travels to the town of Rogueport. But upon his arrival... no sign of Peach! When Mario learns about the legendary Star Jewels, he begins the search for these mythical treasures, hoping to find the princess along the way.

Of course, Mario isn’t the only one searching for the Star Jewels... and Bowser isn’t the only antagonist causing trouble this time! Will our hero succeed in finding the ancient artifacts, opening the Thousand-Year Door, and ultimately saving the world?

A paper world full of surprises

On the search for the Star Jewels, you explore a world that stretches far beyond the city limits of Rogueport! You'll be amazed by what awaits you: a gigantic dragon hiding in a spooky castle, a cursed village engulfed in eternal darkness, thrilling detective work aboard a moving train, and much more!

Make use of Mario’s paper abilities for movement and exploration! Transform into a paper airplane to cross chasms, or become as thin as a sheet of paper to squeeze through cracks! There are also other abilities to discover!

A colorful mix of partners

On your journey, you’ll meet a wide variety of characters eager to join you! They won’t just help you search for the Star Jewels but also add a personal touch to your adventures!

Each character has unique abilities. For example, Goombella can provide information about enemies or locations, Koops can help you reach items that are otherwise out of reach, and Madam Flurrie blows away obstacles to reveal hidden passages. You can also use these and other abilities in battle to gain the upper hand over your foes!

On the battlefield

What do you do if enemies cross your path during your journey? Face them in turn-based battles and do your best to impress the demanding audience! Your many ways to achieve victory include attacks gained only through special badges and star attacks powered by the Star Jewels!

With the right timing when pressing buttons, you can increase the strength of your attacks or reduce damage when defending. The better you perform, the more applause you’ll receive from the audience!
