This title, which brings together the futures of Xenoblade Chronicles and Xenoblade Chronicles 2, takes place on Aionios, a world home to two warring nations.

• Keves: a nation where mechanical technology has developed. Its forces are mainly composed of units equipped with combat vehicles that they operate manually.
• Agnus: a nation versed in ether, a magical technology. Its forces are mainly composed of units specialized in the use of ether and fighting with small, mobile, autonomous weapons powered by this energy.

Six soldiers from these two nations find themselves at the heart of a grand narrative whose central theme is life.

• Noah: This soldier from Keves is one of the protagonists of Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Noah is also responsible for guiding the souls of those who have lost their lives on the battlefield.
• Lanz: Noah's ally wields a weapon that can be used as both a sword and a shield.
• Eunie: Specializing in healing, this childhood friend of Noah and Lanz is outspoken and has a strong personality.
• Mio: The other protagonist of this story. Mio fights for Agnus and, like Noah, is also a soul guide.
• Taion: This strategist fights alongside Mio using his intellect.
• Sena: This fighter is an ally of Mio and Taion. Despite her small stature, she possesses incredible physical strength!
